PIERCE CITY, MO - The Pierce City Eagles trailed visiting Sarcoxie 55-53 Tuesday night with just 2 seconds left.  The Eagles inbounded the ball around midcourt to a curling Wayne Joe Sooter.  The senior's heave kissed the glass and fell in for an amazing buzzer-beater to give Pierce City a crowd pleasing 56-55 victory, and just their 1st win streak of the season.

"We drew up the play to Wayne Joe, and Sarcoxie knew it was going to him so he was double teamed," said head coach Matt Street.  "It's not exactly how we drew it up but it worked."

The Eagles are a young team that plays a lot of freshman so Street was happy for his team in that moment, but knew they had to refocus for their next game Wednesday night.

That game would end with Sooter heroics once again.  Sooter, who is averaging 19 points per game this season, converted a 3-point play with 2 seconds left to give the Eagles a 57-56 win over Stockton.  The Eagles are now 3-0 in conference play.

Heroics run in the Sooter family as 3 seasons ago Wayne Joe's older cousin Deitrick set the state record with 10 3-point field goals in the 1st half of a win over Greenfield.  Sooter finished the game with a school record 50 point effort.
