SPRINGFIELD, MO - When Dan Hay embarked upon his 3rd Boston Marathon he was more than a little concerned by the 80+ degree temperatures as Hay's ideal running temperature is 43 degrees.
"When I heard it was going to be hot it really challenged my faith and what I can do," said Hay.
Hay won the Veterans Division (50+) with a time of 2 hours, 44 minutes and 30 seconds. He also finished 130th overall.
Hay says it wasn't his best time ever, but was certainly his best race.
"The neat thing about it is to be on the stage with some of the best runners in the World, including former Olympians," said Hay. "I don't fit into that group, but to be there is really special."
Hay was already back in Springfield a day later resuming his duties as Parkview assistant track coach.
