Hall's 6 Trays Lead Panthers to 3-0

By Mike Scott

Drury Freshman guard Alex Hall scored 21 points to lead five Panthers in double-figures as Drury ran off to a 94-72 victory over Mid-American Christian Monday night at Weiser Gym.

Sophomore Dominique Long added 14 points, junior Chris Parks and sophomore Dennon Mitchell had 11 points each and junior Chase Elliott had 10 points for the Panthers, who improved to 3-0 with their third straight game of 90 or more points.

Junior Andrew Taylor grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds to clean up any misses underneath for the Panthers, who trailed 20-14 with 12 minutes left in the opening half before going on a 26-2 run over the next seven and a half minutes to grab what would become a 47-34 advantage by halftime.

"Twenty one minutes played, and Andrew has 11 rebounds," Drury coach Steve Hesser said. "I'd take an Andrew Taylor every year for the rest of my coaching career. He's so selfless it's unbelievable. He just cares about team and trying to do the little things to make all of his teammates better."

Mid-America Christian, an NAIA Division I school from Oklahoma City which had lost at NCAA Division I Texas Christian 74-69 on Nov. 13 for its only previous loss, fell to 4-2. Charlie Shorter had 20 points to lead the Evangels.

Hall, who came into the game averaging 31.0 points per game after hitting a school record-tying eight 3-pointers in each of his first two collegiate games, went 6-for-12 from behind the arc (and 7-for-13 overall), adding three assists and three steals in his team-high 31 minutes of action.

Mitchell and Parks had five assists each and Long added four assists, to go with eight rebounds, in 17 minutes of action. Freshman guard Brandon Lockhart had seven points, a pair of steals and just one turnover in his 14 minutes of work off the bench.

"Dominique had a better game tonight," Hesser said. "And Brandon Lockhart really gave us positive energy in a stretch there in the second half that really helped us.

"We struggled to get some energy going, especially early, but I'm proud of the guys the way we came back."

The Panthers are idle until they entertain Ouachita Baptist in a 2 p.m. game Saturday at Weiser.
