Just 5 years after moving to St. Louis the Rams shocked the world, turning around a 4-12 season into an NFC best 13-3 record and a run to the Super Bowl XXXIV title.
The "Greatest Show on Turf" began when free agent acquisition Trent Green was lost for the season with injury. Kurt Warner stepped in leading an offense that featured many weapons including Marshall Faulk, Isaac Bruce, and Torry Holt.
St. Louis knocked off Tampa Bay to win the NFC crown, meeting AFC champ Tennessee in the Superbowl held in Atlanta's Georgia Dome.
The Rams led 9-0 at the half. They took a 16-0 lead in the 2nd half, but the Titans stormed back for the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history.
But with just 2:04 to go, Warner hit Bruce for a 73 yard touchdown to grab a 23-16 lead.
Steve McNair led the Titans comeback. On the final play of the game McNair hit Kevin Dyson at the 5 yard line. Dyson lunged for the goal line, but was stopped short by linebacker Mike Jones.
The Rams captured their first NFL Championship since 1951.
Head coach Dick Vermeil retired from his position a short time later with an emotional press conference.
