Springfield Remains in First Place Tie

Hearne Pied After Win

By Mike Scott

The Springfield Cardinals remained in a first place tie in the Texas League North division after a 4-3 win over Northwest Arkansas Sunday Night. Tulsa beat Arkansas 4-2 to keep the race deadlocked.

Springfield starter Trey Hearne picked up the victory going 7 innings, allowing only 6 hits and 2 runs, striking out 6. Eduardo Sanchez and Francisco Samuel closed out the game.

Catcher Tony Cruz gave the Cardinals a 3-2 lead with his 6th inning double. Steven Hill provided a much needed insurance run with an rbi double in the 8th.

Springfield hosts last place Arkansas for the next four games. Tulsa hosts Northwest Arkansas for 4 as well, but it's the next 2 games that will decide the North division champs and a Texas League playoff spot at the end of the season.
