SBU's Steve Gachette Named ICAA Offensive Player of the Week

By KSPR Sports

SBU's Steve Gachette has been named as the ICAA Offensive Player of the Week.
Gachette, a 6-1, 180-pound sophomore, is from Lehigh Acres, Fla. In last week's 34-14 win at Kentucky Wesleyan, Gachette went 27-of-53 for 324 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for 62 yards and a TD to total 386 yards in total offense.
With the three touchdown passes last Saturday, Gachette stands at 28 for his career, only 4 behind Robert Clardy's career record of 32 (2003-06). This season Gachette has thrown for 13 touchdowns, trailing Chris Lowe's single-season record of 19 by 6.
Gachette has guided SBU to three consecutive wins, which is one short of the school record of four. The Bearcats host Central Oklahoma this Saturday, October 4, at 1:30 p.m. at Plaster Stadium in Bolivar.
