CoxHealth reports sharp increase in number of motorcycle, bicycle and ATV injuries

CoxHealth Trauma Services coordinator Jami Blackwell, in a news release, said her staff has seen two and a half times the number of motorcycle crash patients of their total number in 2012.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Medical professionals at CoxHealth Trauma Services say motorcycle, bicycle and all-terrain vehicle crashes are on the rise, if the number of patients they have seen this year is any indication.

Almost two years to the day an EF5 tornado killed 161 people in Joplin the city is once again under a severe weather threat and watching as nearby Moore, Oklahoma, copes with a similar tragedy.

The city of Joplin knows all too well what the people in Moore, Oklahoma, are going through Monday night, from the fear to the tremendous heartbreak. Emotions were already running high leading up to the two year anniversary of the EF5 tornado that killed 161, and now this--plus the continued threat of severe weather. People in Joplin are hurting all over again.
