Mass Effect 3

XB 360, PS3, PC
4 stars out of 4
If "Star Wars" and "Battlestar Galactica" made sweet space love and had a baby, it'd look a lot like "Mass Effect." The final chapter in this masterful trilogy combines the colorful and cheeky alien-filled universe of George Lucas' franchise with the thoughtful character drama and complex moral dilemmas of the "Galactica" reboot, and adds a dash of shoot-em-up action. But while movies and TV offer a single narrative thread, "Mass Effect 3" gives gamers dozens of choices that have a real impact on Commander Shepard's quest to save the universe from an advanced race of machine-like aliens called Reapers. With apologies to another iconic piece of science fiction, "Mass Effect 3" may well be the final frontier of role-playing games.
