Behind The Scenes

If you've ever wondered just how a Calendar cover story photo shoot comes together at the Orlando Sentinel, here's a peek behind the scenes of this week's cover illustrating the 2012 Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, with Sentinel photographer Joe Burbank. The first step, typically, is a brainstorm session between the photographer, Sentinel editors and a representative from Disney. In this case, Joe also sent Team Disney a mock-up sketch (left) of what he was envisioning for the cover: Daisies in front of Spaceship Earth at Epcot. Disney's horticulture department provided the amazing selection of Gerbera Daisies. Joe assisted with the flower arrangement during his shoot (right). Look for the end result on the cover of Calendar in this Friday's Orlando Sentinel.
