By KSPR News

A memorial service will be held for Troy Hays at 6 p.m. Friday in the school gym at Bradleyville.

School officials have also set up a memorial fund for Hays at the Legacy Bank in Sparta. Send contributions to PO Box 250, Sparta, MO 65753.

Classes in Bradleyville are cancelled until Monday.

The car crash killed Hays, a basketball coach at the school, and injured Brad Briscoe, another coach, Wednesday morning.

It happened on Highway 125, just south of Chadwick.

A coroner pronounced the 26 year old dead at the scene.

The car he was riding in smashed into the back of a parked garbage truck.

Twenty-eight year old Briscoe was driving the car. He was rushed to a Springfield hospital with serious injuries.

The principal of Bradleyville says troy was a strong leader and role model for students.

The boys and girls basketball games scheduled Thursday and Friday are also cancelled.

Hays leaves behind a toddler.
