Stone County Deputies were called to the Lampe area Wednesday afternoon on a 911 call of a man being shot.
The victim, Jimmy Finch, age 55 was taken to Cox South Hospital in where he was treated for a gunshot to the left buttock area, a non life-threatening wound.
Finch's wife told deputies that she heard a loud bang, and then heard her husband say that his leg hurt. When she went to check on her husband who was sitting in a recliner in the living room, she had him stand up and noticed blood on his left leg.
Checking the area, deputies found what appeared to be a bullet hole going through the South exterior wall of the home and into the side of the chair where the victim was sitting.
A man who lives in the area told investigators he had been shooting a rifle earlier, but not in the direction of the victim’s home.
At this time, this investigation is continuing. Stone County Detectives will be checking the area of the victim’s home for additional information.
