Pulaski County Deputy Shot

By Kyle Bosch

We're following two breaking news stories this morning. The first out of Pulaski County where a shooting has sent two people to the hospital including a Pulaski County Deputy.

It started just before 11 last night when authorities were called to a home along Route D near Dixon on a report of a shooting.

The homeowner said the alleged suspect had fled the scene.

When the search for the shooter started, one deputy and one highway patrol officer stayed behind.

About 11:30 the suspect from the original shooting call returned to the home.

Officials say, their was a short car chase, then the deputy and suspect got out of their cars and started shooting at each other at close range. Both we're hit multiple times.

Pulaski County Sheriff JB King says the deputy was flown to University Medial Center in Columbia, but the wounds are not life threatening. As for the suspect; King tells KSPR they were also flown to Columbia with serious injuries.

The names of those involved have not been released yet.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has been called in to investigate the shooting; we'll bring you more information as it becomes available.
