The site of Tuesday’s huge animal rescue effort in Pleasant Hope could also be the site of serious child neglect.
New video released from the Humane Society shows the trailer homes on the property just off Highway H were in deplorable conditions. Six children were removed from the property and court documents show the children were as badly infested with pests and skin diseases as the animals.
Tuesday the Humane Society and Polk County authorities raided the property and removed more 350 animals. There were dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, hamsters, donkeys, goats and other animals with little or no access to adequate food, water or shelter.
Sixty-one year old Virginia Gambriel is charged with two counts of child endangerment. Her children and grandchildren were living on the property with her.
