New Nursing Program goes High Tech

By Kyle Bosch

Hospitals across the nation are dealing with a nursing shortage, and it's no different here.

Right now in the Ozarks about 11 percent of nursing jobs are unfilled. And as our population grows the problem will only get worse.

But one area college is doing its part to make things better.

College of Ozarks new nursing program started this semester and its home is state of the art.

Designed to mimic a real life hospital, the newly renovated Armstrong McDonald Nursing Learning Lab features all the details you probably recognize, and a few you'd never expect.

But the technology isn't just confined to a few rooms, students say it's really the core of the whole program

A program school officials visualize their program being a model for others.

College of the Ozarks new nursing program has 20 students in its first class.

They hope to add about 25 to 30 more each year.
