By KSPR News

A bullet was found in a skull that was among the skeletal remains found in Newton County and the cause of death has been ruled a homicide.

Sheriff Ken Copeland said in a statement Wednesday that the bullet showed up in X-rays taken during an autopsy in Springfield.

Copeland said the age, gender and time of death have not been determined and further study by an anthropologist will be needed.

The remains were found Tuesday along a road north of Missouri 86 near Granby.

The Newton County Sheriff's office tells KSPR they found a necklace and clothing with the victim. The clothes consisted of a black coat, blue jeans, a gray pullover shirt, and Doc Marten shoes. The photo in this story is that of the necklace found near the remains.
