You can't tell from the front of the building, but there was a dramatic fire this morning at Springfield Iron and Metal.
It happened just after 10 o'clock this morning. The company has machinery there that shreds cars, and firefighters believe a piece of hot steel may have sparked the flames.
Crews had a hard time putting down the fire because it was difficult to reach-- at least two thousand feet of hose had to be pulled out. No word on the amount of damage.
