New Hospital Coming to Benton County

By KSPR News

Ozarks Community Hospital, formerly Doctor’s Hospital, plans to reopen a critical access hospital in Benton County, Arkansas.

The Gravette Medical Center closed its doors in 2005 for financial reasons.

When the facility reopens it will provide 24-hour ER services and have more than 20 inpatient beds.

Ozarks community hospital leaders say there's still plenty of work to do in Arkansas before that hospital reopens.

“Well, lots of things are just minor maintenance issues ... problems with the elevator, making sure that the plumbing and sewage systems work well. Just things like that, getting the facility up and running as well as making sure that it's ready to open and ready to welcome patients in the community once we do open," Communications Director Carrie Richardson said.

A staff of 30-40 doctors, nurses, and employees will run the hospital.

The medical center will host a community-wide open house after the first of the year.
