SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Springfield police spent Sunday still looking for a man who shot and killed another man on Saturday afternoon.

Authorities say Javon L. Carter, 20, of Springfield was found with gunshot wounds to his face and arm at 1134 S. Maryland Ave.

Campus police heard shots fired.  When they went to check it out, they saw two cars leaving the home.  Campus police pulled over one of the vehicles, and Springfield police pulled over the other vehicle.

It is not clear if the suspect was in one of these vehicles, or if he fled on foot.

Carter died at a hospital late Saturday afternoon.

Springfield police believe the homicide is a result of a dispute between several people who know each other.

Police say this is not a random act, and there are no public safety concerns.

Another person was injured, but was released from a hospital.
