An accused thief whose handcuffs were removed and who was released from the city jail in Aberdeen was re-arrested after the handcuffs came up missing and he allegedly tried to pawn them at a local pawn shop, it was reported Wednesday.
The suspect, a 43-year-old Aberdeen man, had been brought to the city jail on an outstanding theft and trespassing complaint, The Daily World newspaper reported. After his handcuffs had been removed, the suspect was released, but it was later found the handcuffs were missing.
A police report states a local pawn shop later called to notify officers the suspect had been in trying to pawn the handcuffs, the newspaper said.
Police then found the man and booked him into jail on charges of trafficking in stolen property.
