KSPR VIDEO PICK: Navy Blows Up Spy Satellite

By KSPR News

With the shot of a missile a 5,000-pound U.S. spy satellite is no more.

This is actual video of the U.S. Navy launching the missile into space. Minutes later it caused a massive explosion.

The Pentagon says there's an 80% chance the missile hit exactly where it needed to- the satellite's fuel tank, which contained 1,000 pounds of toxic fuel.

If the tank hit land it could have contaminated an area the size of two football fields.

The pentagon will continue to track the obliterated remains of the satellite.

So far none of it appears to be big enough to cause damage on earth.

The missile mission cost around $30 million.
