In Independence, Missouri Leila’s Hair Museum has been named one of the 10 Quirkiest Museums in the United States, and for good reason.

It's the only museum of its kind in the world.

Leila Cohoon says she bought her first hairpiece 50 years ago. Since then, she's gathered up more than 2,000 hair pieces and samples. She says her hobby has become an obsession.

Cohoon says people often ask if the hair in her museum comes from dead people.


She responds with "I look at it in a different way. It's the only part of that human being that's still here that I can touch. Now that's special."))


The museum boasts hair from Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley.

Cohoon says her biggest coop might be the blond locks that she believes once belonged to a young Harry Truman.
