SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- -

Surveillance images lead to the arrest of a man, a woman and a juvenile suspected in two home robberies Monday morning in southwest Springfield.

Greene County Sheriff Jim Arnott says his detectives are investigating if the three may be involved in more home break-ins across the county.  John Pendergrass, 18, of Springfield and Nicole Smith, 19, of Springfield face burglary charges.   A third juvenile is also in custody.  Authorities arrested Pendergrass and Smith after a short chase.

Investigators say two men in dark hoodies broke into a home off South Clifton early Monday morning.  Then, investigators say two men broke into another home in the 3800 block of South Cottage.   Investigators believe they were armed with rifles.

Sheriff Arnott called these incidents a "crime of opportunity."

"Every citizen has the right to feel safe in their own homes," said Arnott.  "Make sure the doors to your home and vehicles are locked, keep valuables out of sight and remove garage door openers from your vehicles."

Surveillance cameras caught the suspects using a stolen credit card at a Springfield convenience store.   Those images led to the arrests.
