CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- -

The search for a missing six-year-old Missouri boy has turned tragic.

Police in Cape Girardeau found the bodies of Markell Beasley, 6, and Demetrious Beasley, 41, Tuesday night inside a home, following a report of shots fired.  Police suspect it was a murder-suicide.  The Missouri Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert hours before the two were found dead by authorities.

Markell's mother reported the boy missing Saturday after she took him to St. Louis to be with Demetrious Beasley at a family gathering.  The mother told police Demetrious Beasley called to tell her he was not going to bring the boy back to her home in Jefferson City.  Police then issued an Endangered Persons Alert.

Jefferson City detectives say the investigation into the deaths remains ongoing.
