Business at restaurants can drop 40 percent when the flakes fall. Just the mention of the word "snow" in a forecast is enough to scare off customers.
Kevin O'Leary owns O'Leary's restaurant in Sunset Hills. Just weeks ago his place was hit by the tornado and now he has to deal with all the snow and fewer customers. O'Leary said, "It knocks the heck out of our business, they stay at home, they'll stay in for a week at a time, then after a week or so then it's fine, but they hibernate and they just don't come out they will not come out."
Meanwhile folks in the landscaping industry say they're ready for the next round of winter. Plowing and salting parking lots keep them going, when they cannot mow or plant flowers. One landscaper who's been in operation for 27 years says this winter ranks in the top five when it come to making money.
