It may not be the big guy himself, or a sleigh pulled by reindeer, but one Crawford County postal worker gets pretty close. Every Christmas Eve Denise Martin delivers packages wearing a santa suit.
"If you have to work Christmas Eve you might as well have fun with it," said Martin.
She's dressed like St. Nick every year for the past four years. Usually Martin gets a thumbs up or a big smile. "Some people won't have family visiting, so if I'm taking a package to the door that might be their only contact with family," said Martin.
Shirley Touchstone lost her husband about two years ago. She opened her door that Christmas and there was Martin dressed in a santa suit. "She sang Merry Christmas to me and just brightened my day. She's always got a smile," said Touchstone.
Touchstone calls Martin one of a kind. She said, "She's always smiling and bright and cheery, and not everybody can be that way. I think it's her faith that does that."
Martin admits she misses being home with her family on Christmas Eve, but it would not be Christmas if she did not show up in her sleigh.
Martin says she is not working on Christmas, but other carriers will be delivering even more last minute packages.
