Hagerstown police were investigating an armed robbery of the M&T Bank branch on the 900 block of Dual Highway on Saturday morning.
At 9:53 a.m. police received a report that a man armed with a handgun entered the bank and demanded cash. The man fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and was last seen fleeing north on foot, Sgt. Stewart Hackman said.
The man was described as black and wearing dark clothing.
It was the second bank robbery this week in Hagerstown. Shortly after 9 a.m. Monday, the PNC Bank branch on the 1700 block of Dual Highway was robbed by a gunman.
Hagerstown Police released the following information Saturday afternoon:
"On 02/18/12 at approx. 0954 hrs. an unknown black male entered the bank and moved directly to the teller counter where he displayed a handgun and demanded cash. The suspect was given an undetermined amount of cash, and he left the bank. The suspect fled on foot northbound towards Weis Supermarket. A canine track was conducted and the trail was lost in the Weis parking lot on the west side of the store.
"The suspect is described as a black male 5'4"-5'6" medium build wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt w/ the hood up; a black ski style mask covering the face to just below the eyes; blue jeans; & was armed with a handgun.
"There was no one injured, and the suspect has not been located. Anyone with information concerning this investigation is asked to contact Hagerstown Police.
