Good morning!
It really could be an active evening for those of us across the Ozarks. My confidence is increasing for the threat of severe weather as we head into the evening and early overnight hours.
A very strong upper level low system will move quickly into the plains this afternoon. Anywhere from 5 to 7 pm we will start to see storms fire up along the dryline out to the west and then move into our area.
The storm prediction center has us circled in their threat for severe weather. All modes of severe weather will be possible this evening.

Tornadoes can not be ruled out. Here is the probability of tornadoes in our area:

Also, hail. With very cold air in the mid-layers, large hail will be a big threat for SW MO and NW AR.

The blue hatched area shows the chance for hail greater than 2".
Just a few minutes ago the SPC issued a severe thunderstorm watch for counties in northern Texas. The warning is for the same system that will be moving our way.
As we talk about the chance for severe weather we want to invite you to tune into a 30-minute special the KSPR StormVision Weather Team has been working on. The show is packed full of valuable information on what to do on night's just like tonight!
