Good morning! Kevin did a wonderful job explaining our storm set-up in last night's blog... he talked about two storms converging (one north and one south).. as those storms converged, Springfield was pretty much left out of the snow. To the north at Pomme De Terre I have heard of 2.5" of snow and to the south I have heard of about 3" of snow in Yellville, AR. Springfield: HA! A dusting, if that. Don't worry snow lovers, more snow to come.
My worry is that the snow this afternoon will cause drivetime to be a mess this evening.
We still have a cold front to the north and another developing storm system to the south still sitting in Texas. Here is a look at the 00 model run:

And here is a look at what we have showing up on current Sat/Rad (8:15am).

You notice that we are seeing a break in the snow in SW MO and NW AR. I have spotlighted the precipitation to the west.... we still have a day full of snow ahead of us. A lot of moisture to work with!
Our in house model did a great job at picking up on this. Notice how it leaves us dry most of the morning. It brings back a chance of rain late this afternoon. (I think it we will see snow showers before then.)

The snow will stick around this evening and move out in the overnight period. I won't be surprised to see more school closings tomorrow morning as compared to this morning.
The graphic below will show you snow probabilities. The area circled in the red will be most likely to see at least 4" of snow. Northern Arkansas and extreme Southern Mo. will see the heaviest.

And here is the chance for at least 8 inches (notice the chance exists, it has gone down).

I do think Springfield will still see a few inches ... however, I do think we will be on the low side. Northern Arkansas, Could see more than 7"... I do expect locally higher amounts. As Kevin said, this is a VERY DIFFICULT storm to pinpoint.

Please realize that conditions will likely deteriorate through the day. Drive-time this evening could be a mess! Please stay tuned to the KSPR website for more throughout the day!
