Missouri Grandma Charged with Drugging Baby

By KSPR News

A Jefferson City woman is charged with drugging her granddaughter, hoping the baby's divorcing parents would get back together if they had a sick child.

Prosecutors say Terri Chilton, 41, faces one count of first-degree child endangerment.

Investigators say Chilton tried to make the 1-year-old girl's parents believe their baby had ingested rodent poison. The baby was seen at several hospitals and determined to be in good health.

They say Chilton then fed blood thinner to the girl. Investigators discovered the scheme 2 days later when the girl began bleeding uncontrollably from her mouth, nose and two minor scratches. The girl survived, but long-term organ damage is unknown.
