Anyone who's seen the movie "Animal House" is familiar with the cafeteria food fight.
But a different type of food fight took place Saturday, and this food fight isn't about throwing anything, including your money away.
Area residents had a few hours inside a temporary grocery store boasting very low prices.
And with the holiday season in full swing organizers say it's getting busier by the month.
Amber Rounsdville, Marketing Director for Springfield Food Fight explains, "People will be very surprised about how fresh the products we have are. Yes, we have some frozen products, but when we can come across a deal for free range chickens that haven't even been processed the day before, you can't go to most stores and find fresh chickens like that."
What you spend goes to support The Kitchen, which provides services for low income families.
The food is sold at the Lady Baltimore Building at 4550 Farm Road 130.
It's usually open the first Saturday of every month, but the next food fight will be held January 9, 2010.
