IN THIS SEASON OF THANKS AND FOOD, THERE’S A MOVEMENT THAT'S GAINING STEAM. IT CONCERNS WHAT'S ON YOUR FORK.

IT'S CALLED "SLOW FOOD" OR "LOCALLY GROWN" AND IT HAS A STRONG FOLLOWING RIGHT HERE IN THE OZARKS.

WE WANTED TO FOLLOW IT FROM THE FARM WHERE IT GROWS TO YOUR PLATE IT'S EATEN.

IN THIS "FAST-FOOD, WALMART-EVERYWHERE" WORLD, THE SLOW FOOD MOVEMENT IS ONE OF THE SHORTEST FOOD CHAINS AROUND.

THE TURKEY ON KIP GLASS' FARM WERE ROAMING FREE NEAR BOIS D'ARC IN OCTOBER. BUT NOW THEY'RE LIKELY THE CENTERPIECE ON SOMEONE'S THANKSGIVING TABLE.

KIP AND HIS WIFE JACKIE STARTED FARMING FREE-ROAMING FOOD WITHOUT any CHEMICALS ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO.

"come on piggy, pig, pigs, come on"

ASK ANY FARMER AND THEY'LL TELL YOU GOING COMPLETELY CHEMICAL FREE IS NOT EASY. EVEN KIP'S DEWORMING MEDICINE FOR THE ANIMALS IS NATURAL, A COMBINATION OF CAYENNE PEPPER AND GARLIC POWDER.

KIPS PIGS ROAM FREE NEAR THE CHICKENS AND THE COWS FEED NEARBY ON GRASS ONLY.

"they're not designed to eat grain"

KIP'S WAY OF FARMING IS GAINING A FOLLOWING. THOUSANDS HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE "FOOD INC" OR READ THE BOOK "OMNIVORE'S DILEMMA" AND BOUGHT INTO THE SLOW FOOD CONCEPT.

EVEN IN THIS DOWN ECONOMY, KIP'S PROFITS ARE UP OVER LAST YEAR. PROOF TO THIS FARMER THAT PEOPLE ARE STARTING TO VEER FROM THEIR FAST FOOD FRENZY AND GET BACK TO THE BASICS.

EVEN THOUGH IT'S A LOT OF EXTRA WORK TO FARM THIS WAY, KIP SAYS HE WOULDN'T CHANGE A THING.

"we're eating it too, everybody's got to have a purpose in life, here's mine"
