Suspect Charged After Suspicious Fires

During the overnight hours the Sheriff’s Department investigated 2 suspicious fires in an area Northwest of Licking, MO. Based on information gained during the investigation a search warrant was granted for the Richard D Lane residence.
The Missouri State Hwy Patrol SWAT team assisted the Sheriff’s Department in apprehending Mr. Lane. The Sheriff’s Department then spent the next 3 days at the residence searching the property.
As a result of the search Richard D Lane, age 49, of Licking has been arrested and charged with 3 counts of Unlawful possession of a Firearm by a felon and Possession of Stolen Property. Mr. Lanes bond is set at $500,000.00.
The Sheriff’s Department has already contacted Federal Authorities to see if the Federal Attorney would be interested in adopting the case based on Mr. Lane’s past felony convictions.
