A northwestern Arkansas county is moving closer to getting better emergency services.
Newton County is the last in the state to convert its 911 system to centerline mapping, giving physical addresses to every house and business.
The county is still using an antiquated postal route system, which does not correspond to a physical location.
The county assessor says the changes will cost nearly $300,000 and will be in place within two years.
