Radio stations are playing Christmas music, store shelves are filled with Christmas decorations, some retailers have already released their "Black Friday" christmas sales ads, and Saturday Silver Dollar City jumped on the holiday bandwagon with the premier of "An Old Time Christmas."
But the five-story special effects Christmas tree and the broadway-style production of "A Dickens Christmas Carol" may have been overshadowed- if it's possible to do that to four million lights- by a major announcement.
Like a fine wine, the park gets better as you age.
"If you were born or if you were married in 1960, in other words if you've been married for 50 years or you were born in 1960 and you're celebrating your 50th birthday, then guess what, you get to come into Silver Dollar City in 2010 absolutely free," explains Brad Thomas, General Manager of Silver Dollar City Attractions.
That's because SDC is turning 50 this year as well, and it's getting itself a present you'll be able to take full advantage of in the spring.
America's Biggest Water Battle: Tom and Huck's Riverblast, a $7 million ride, will be the park's newest addition.
