HARRISON, Ark. (AP) - FEMA may be able to check its new flood-risk maps for Boone County against some real flooding.
As Arkansas braces for a couple of days of steady rain on top of weeks of record-setting precipitation, the
Federal Emergency Management Agency said Thursday that draft flood-risk maps are now available for Boone County. The maps are intended for use in making insurance and development decisions in the north Arkansas county.
According to FEMA, the preliminary maps take account of flood hazards in every community in Boone County, as well as unincorporated areas.
Residents who think there are errors on the maps have until Jan. 28 to raise objections.
