A 26 year old Highlandville man was arrested Wednesday during a vehicle stop on Highway 65 after conspiring with undercover officers to hire them to kill his parents.
The man, whose charges are pending, were put in touch with Christian County investigators and undercover officers of COMET after being alerted that this individual had made comments about killing his parents for insurance money.
Springfield Police Officers took the initial information and due to a diligent investigation alerted the Christian County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s Office investigators then contacted COMET investigators who developed an operations plan that arranged the meeting with the suspect.
Upon committing the elements of the conspiracy with undercover officers the suspect left the meeting location and was north bound on 65 Hwy when stopped by uniformed deputies who were a part of the operation.
The suspect was arrested during the car stop and transported to the CCSO jail pending charges.
