Two months ago it happened in Bradleyville, Missouri.
Soon Beaver, Arkansas may vote itself out of existence.
A group of people want to revoke the town charter.
They want the town to dissolve and become an unincorporated part of Carroll county.
Petitioners say 17 of the town's 34 year round residents have signed the petition.
Those who want the charter revoked say aldermen and mayors constantly quit, they can't keep park board and planning and zoning seats filled either.
The city does not have a police department or a building inspector.
“No one wants to get involved or even vote. There's no point, the city doesn't provide any services,” said Michelle Pool, who started the petition.
According to the latest census, the total population in Beaver is 95 people.
Not everyone is in favor of dissolving.
“You've got to do the best with what you got. I'm not against de-annexing portions of the city that don't want to help,” said Roger Shoffit, who’s against the petition.
We could not reach the mayor of Beaver for comment.
Community members said she was out of town.
Petitioners plan to turn in their signatures to the Carroll county attorney.
