1 Dead in Rogers, Arkansas Police Shooting

By KSPR News

ROGERS, Ark. (AP) - Rogers police say a Benton County resident was fatally shot by an officer after he fled from a traffic stop.

In a statement released Friday, police said 29-year-old Matt Dague was killed after exchanging gunfire with Cpl. Jesse Ray Thursday night.

Police say after Dague fled from the initial stop, Ray made a second stop and discovered Dague in the rear floorboard of the car.

Authorities say Dague got up off the floor board shooting and Ray returned fire.

Ray is on leave pending the outcome of an investigation being conducted by Arkansas State Police. Officer John Brashears, who made the initial road stop, also is on leave.
