Authorities in Howell Co. found one person dead after a fire destroyed a home early Tuesday morning. A fire the fire marshall says was intentionally set.
"I want justice. That's what I want. If anybody did do something to him, I want them caught. I want them to be punished for it because he didn't deserve this," says Mountain View resident Rita Morgan.
Early Tuesday morning, Morgan received a call from her sister Reba, saying their brother is gone.
"I thought, 'well, he's just out somewhere and I'll go help find him, but when I got over here..." says Morgan.
His house was on fire. When authorities put out the flames, they found a body. It was so badly burned, they couldn't tell if it's a man or a woman.
"We don't know the identity of the victim yet," says Lt. Gary Lambe, Howell Co. Sheriff's office.
Morgan says she's certain it is her brother. Tuesday, she mourned her loss.
"That was my baby brother. Any time I had any problems, I could sit and talk with him. He was always there for me," says Morgan.
Offers are now on the lookout for a man and a woman driving a yellow Nissan passenger vehicle with Kansas license plates. They say they are interested in talking to the two people, but aren't calling them suspects.
Morgan believes those people to be her brother's ex-girlfriend and her brother.
"I strongly believe they were here and I strongly believe they had something to do with this," says Morgan.
For now, it's an open investigation. Authorities will not say who is a suspect. So, Morgan's family is just dealing with their loss.
