Missouri's Oldest Woman Turns 112

By KSPR News

Birthdays are no new thing to one Missouri lady.

It's believed she's Missouri’s oldest woman.

Florence Poe was born in 1897. That makes her 112 years old.

She celebrated her birthday Monday in Cape Girardeau.

Poe is now blind, but her mind is sharp and she's as spunky as ever.

She outlived her husband and one of her four daughters and says she's prepared should her time on earth come to an end.

"I've had my casket bought for about 45 years, my grave been bought over 51 years. My headstone's up. I've been prepared," Poe said jokingly.

Poe's words of wisdom for living a long life are to live a clean life and go to church.

She’s the 11th oldest person in America and the 28th oldest in the world.
