Uncle Accused of Challenging Joplin Boy to Drinking Game, Charges Filed

By KSPR News

An 11-year-old Joplin boy who possibly died from alcohol poisoning might have been challenged to a drinking game by his own uncle.

According to a probable cause statement filed Tuesday in Jasper County Court Tyler Fecko's uncle, Dale Phillips, challenged him to drink.

Phillips and his girlfriend, Linda Petrait, then allegedly ignored Tyler.

Family members found him dead Monday morning.

Prosecutors charged Phillips and Petrait each with one count of first-degree child endangerment.

Both are being held on $50,000 bond.

The Joplin Globe has posted the probable cause affidavits and charges. You can read those by following the link in the "Related Content" box of this story.
