Churches Prepare for the Worst

By KSPR News

Better safe than sorry- it’s one of the oldest mantras in the book and probably one of the most effective too.

A group of law enforcement officers, church-goers, and church staff put that into action today at Evergreen Church in Willard.

They participated in a training session to learn how to respond to and handle emergency situations.

Although a number of national incidents have put the possibility of a church intruder in the limelight, the group focused an intrusion by Mother Nature as well.

“It’s sad that we have to talk about this in a church setting, but the fact is even a weather related thing, such as an ice storm could come through and devastate this area as it did just a few short years ago,” explains Evergreen Worship Pastor Gary Collins.

The Willard Police Department and Midwest Police Consultants led the training course, which is offered all over the state.
