Carthage Woman Killed in Lawrence County Accident

Forty-eight-year-old Leslie Laney of Carthage died this morning after she ran her 1999 Ford Explorer off Missouri 96 five miles west of Halltown in Lawrence County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Laney ran off the left side of the roadway, overcorrected, then ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by Lawrence County Deputy Coroner Scott Lakin. The accident occurred at approximately 11 a.m., marking the 57th fatality of 2009 for Troop D of the Highway Patrol.
