Nixa Child Molestation Suspect’s Computer Seized from Attorney’s Office

By KSPR News

According to a search warrant filed in Greene County, investigators seized Michael K. Benson’s computer from the law offices of Dee Wampler and Joseph Passanise. Benson was charged with child molestation earlier this month in Christian County. An eight-year-old girl told investigators Benson molested her last March at a birthday party.

According to the search warrant, Benson delivered his computer to Passanise, his attorney.

On June 15, a woman had reported her daughter was molested by Benson. The woman says she saw child pornography on Benson’s computer. She says other children discovered the pornography and brought it to her attention. The woman says she told Benson she was reporting him. The woman says Benson then took the computer to his attorney.

The next day, an officer says he told Passanise he wanted the computers. On June 30, attorney Tom Carver contacted the officer; Carver said he represented Wampler and Passanise. Carver suggested the officer get a search warrant. The computer was seized from the law office.

Benson could face more charges. He is scheduled to be back in a Christian County courtroom July 21.
