A man from Hollister accused of stabbing his girlfriend in Hollister will sit in jail under a half-million dollar bond.

39-year-old Donald Sperling was in court at Forsyth today for a bond reduction hearing. Taney County officials say the stabbing of the woman, refered to as "T.M." in court documents took place on June 25th near Iowa Colony Road. She suffered several severe stab wounds and her son drove her to an ambulance. She has since recovered enough to where she could attend Sperling's hearing today.

Sperling turned himself into the Ava Police Department the day after the stabbing. A disposition hearing is scheduled for July 28th. When asked why Sperling turned himself into Ava PD, Taney County Prosecutor Jeff Merrell said Sperling has family in the Ava area.
