Big Flat Man Arrested in Burglaries

Baxter County Sheriff's News Release:

Acting on a citizen tip, Sheriff’s Investigators today were able to make an arrest in the commercial burglaries that occurred early yesterday morning in Big Flat. Investigator Brad Lewis and Patrol Lieutenant Rick Lucy traveled to Big Flat this morning to attempt to locate the person specified in the citizen tip. They found this person and determined that there was sufficient evidence to take him into custody.

After returning to the Sheriff’s Office and while being interviewed, the suspect confessed to committing the burglaries at Charlie’s Place, Katie’s Grocery, and the City Hall in Big Flat. He also confessed to an attempted burglary at the Junction Liquor Store. He was subsequently taken to the Detention Center for processing.

Jack Wesley McCoy, 26 years old of Big Flat, charged with:
Commercial Burglary (3 counts) – Felonies
Attempted Commercial Burglary – Felony
Theft of Property - Misdemeanor

Bond for Jack McCoy was set at $25,000. He will appear in the Circuit Court later this month.
