Thanks to the state government the federal government is coming to the rescue of local governments in 46 counties, many in the Ozarks.
Missouri Governor Jay Nixon requested a major disaster declaration for areas across the state hit by May's storms, tornadoes, and flooding, and President Barack Obama complied.
That means the feds will reimburse local governments for 75% of their emergency response and recovery activities associated with the May 8th through the 16th severe weather.
Additionally, the declaration will make funds available to individuals in 28 counties for eligible storm-related damages and expenses.
Y probably remember this is the weather event that tore down a wall at the Fair Grove school, significant enough damage to warrant a stop by the governor.
He also flew over Charity, Missouri, a tiny town in Dallas County where a man was killed when a tornado ripped him out of his home.
