Other than some overheated Southern Stone County firefighters and charred houseboat, no one was reported injured when the vessel went up in flames just before noon today on Table Rock Lake.

The houseboat caught fire near Indian Point . Southern Stone County Firefighters and the Missouri Water Patrol were called to handle the situation. Good news from authorities, the owner of the boat told 9-1-1 dispatchers there was no one on board.

Around noon an Indian Point police officer said the boat was drifting past Jake's Point Island, and around 12:10 it was close to the Indian Point Resort area. The fire was out and the boat secure around two o'clock this afternoon. The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Authorities say boat owner, 44 year-old Jeff Hodges of Branson, noticed smoke and that saw that the cabin was on fire. He jumped from the fly bridge and was picked up by a passing boater.
