Friday 8:30am- Rain & Storms Today

By KSPR Weather

Happy Friday!  I hope most of you were able to sleep despite the rumbles of thunder.  Varying reports of rainfall.  It seems every place I look I find a different total.

Here's an idea:
Turner's Station: 5.50"
NW SPG: 1.25"
Airport: .85"
Cassville: 4.50" (still raining)
Close to Cabool: 7"

You get the idea that there are VERY localized heavy amounts of rain... and the chance will continue into today.  Take a look at this... rain and strong storms with VERY HEAVY RAIN building back into Kansas/Oklahoma.

The rain stretching off to the west is going to bring a major flooding threat into the Ozarks once again this afternoon.  This is something to monitor VERY closely.  ( have I used the word "VERY" enough today?)

The storm prediction center has circled the extreme souther part of Missouri and all of Arkansas under a slight risk for severe weather today (tornado risk is LOW, about 2%).  The main threat is heavy rain (these storms are moving slow and dropping a lot of rain) LARGE hail, and possibly wind damage. Look at this report (first time I've seen egg-sized hail)
(7:50:40 AM) nwsbot: SGF: Reeds [Jasper Co, MO] post office reports HAIL of egg size (E2.00 INCH) at 07:48 AM CDT --

One thing to keep a close eye on is the direction these storms are moving.  I have so far seen storms moving every way but West this morning.  You may look at the radar and think no worries... set it into motion.

The QPF forecast is predicting heavy rain to the south.  Expect locally higher amounts.

Unfortunatly, the threat for heavy rain exists for the next few days.  This weekend could get VERY messy.. I am a little worried!  The QPF for the next 5 days (Friday to Wednesday) isn't any better.

Please send in your reports and please, please, PLEASE stay safe this weekend!
