Hartville Teacher Accused of Sexual Contact with Student

By KSPR News

HARTVILLE, Mo. (AP) - A southern Missouri teacher is charged with having a sexual relationship with a student.

Thirty-nine-year-old Katherine D. Hicks of Niangua was charged Thursday in Wright County with one felony count of sexual contact with a student on public school property. She also faces a misdemeanor count of furnishing pornographic materials to a minor.

The probable cause statement alleges that Hicks and a 17-year-old student had kissed and used a cell phone to exchange nude pictures and "dirty messages."

The investigation of Hicks started last week after the boy's mother complained to police. Hicks was arrested Wednesday.

The Hartville school district Web site lists Hicks as a kindergarten teacher. The probable cause statement says the alleged victim was a tutor in her class.
